Quick Summary:
ShopHelper stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal information on any server. The app requests certain device permissions only when you initiate specific features, and you can deny any permission at any time.
ShopHelper ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is a woodworking utility application designed for hobbyist and professional woodworkers. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information when you use our services available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
By downloading or using ShopHelper, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
ShopHelper is designed with a privacy-first approach. We minimize data collection to only what is necessary for the App to function.
All user-created content is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This includes but is not limited to:
This data never leaves your device. We do not have access to it, cannot view it, and do not transmit it to any server.
The App may request access to certain device features. These permissions are only requested when you initiate the corresponding feature, and you may deny or revoke them at any time through your device settings.
| Permission | When Requested | Purpose | Data Sent Externally |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo Library / Camera | When you attach a photo to a journal entry or sketch | To allow you to select or capture images for your project documentation | No — photos stay on your device |
| Location | When you request weather data in the Moisture Logger | To retrieve local temperature and humidity for EMC (Equilibrium Moisture Content) calculations | Your approximate location is sent to a weather service (wttr.in) to retrieve ambient conditions |
| Motion & Sensors | When you use the Level tool | To provide real-time accelerometer-based leveling | No — sensor data is processed on-device only |
| File Storage | When you export a PDF from the Cut List Optimizer | To save or share generated PDF documents to a location you choose | No — unless you choose to share the file yourself |
When you use the weather feature in the Moisture Logger, the App sends a request to wttr.in (a third-party weather service) using your approximate location to retrieve temperature and relative humidity data. This request is only made when you explicitly initiate it. We encourage you to review the wttr.in privacy practices at github.com/chubin/wttr.in.
ShopHelper uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect certain data as described in Google's privacy policy, including:
You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings:
For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data disclosure page.
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These platforms may collect data independently (such as crash reports, download statistics, and payment information). Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Since all user data is stored locally on your device:
ShopHelper is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Because your data is stored locally on your device, its security is protected by your device's own security measures (passcode, biometric lock, encryption). We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a secure lock screen.
The App does not transmit your project data, journal entries, photos, or calculations over the internet.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
